The PUCC at Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital will be for children requiring urgent pediatric consultation for conditions such as asthma, jaundice, abdominal pain, vomiting, and dehydration. Physicians and midwives can refer acutely ill children to the pediatrician on call, without the need to visit Emergency. The PUCC will also see patients referred from Emergency. Children are assessed in a very timely manner and further testing and treatment is started as quickly as possible. The clinic’s care providers will be able to do bloodwork, provide IV rehydration and facilitate timely access to x-rays, ultrasounds and other diagnostic tools.
