Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital has nine ultrasound suites. Seven are used to study patients’ muscles and tendons, heart and blood vessels or abdominal and pelvic organs, like those conducted on an expecting mom during the course of pregnancy.

Two are interventional ultrasound suites, where specially trained radiologists and surgeons are able to perform image-guided procedures such as a biopsy to test for cancer. Current forecasts predict that within the first year of opening, nearly 40,000 patients will be given an ultrasound at Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital.

The dedicated Ultrasound Waiting/Change/Sub-Waiting Area features a television screen with entertainment and WiFi accessibility, and provides a calm, private space for patients and their families as they wait for their ultrasound testing.
