At the heart of the hospital lies the Medical/Surgical Inpatient Units where patients with a wide variety of clinical conditions are treated, including those with chronic conditions such as kidney disease. Each Medical/Surgical Inpatient Unit at Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital will house 32 to 36 beds.

For Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital, we are creating a sophisticated treatment area for dialysis inpatients. We will provide state-of-the-art dialysis services in a comfortable, home-like facility. The unique design of the unit will optimize the staff’s ability to observe patients’ dialysis sessions, while preserving the quiet atmosphere of being in a private room. State-of-the-art equipment featuring real-time, online monitoring will allow staff to monitor progress throughout dialysis treatment.

The dialysis unit will feature an effective staff-to-patient ratio. Staff members include registered nurses, certified chronic hemo-dialysis technicians, a renal dietitian and a social worker, under a dedicated medical director. There will be 12 dialysis stations, a reception, central work area, and two exam rooms. A centrally located nursing station will provide staff with views of all dialysis stations.
