The York Region Chronic Kidney Disease Program at Mackenzie Health currently provides the full continuum of care for chronic kidney disease services, ranging from kidney care clinics, ambulatory hemodialysis in three separate locations, to home dialysis therapies. Mackenzie Health treats over 350 dialysis patients every year.  The Inpatient Dialysis Unit at Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital will support all Medical/Surgical Units by treating admitted medical and surgical inpatients requiring level 2 dialysis. It will include satellite space for allied health services and a satellite dialysis unit for inpatients. The creation of an Inpatient Dialysis Unit at Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital will provide expanded and specialized care for the community close to home – almost doubling the number of patients currently served – with a focus on superior patient care and safety.
